Attorney Annabelle Catania to Speak at Good Dad Act Event
Legal Counsel, P.A. attorney Annabelle S. Catania will be a featured guest speaker on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at an event supporting the Good Dad Act.
The Good Dad Act is a non-profit organization providing valuable resources and information to unwed fathers and ensuring equal parenting rights for all fathers and their children. In a statement made on social media, the event wants participants to “be a part of the movement advocating for equality and justice for all fathers.”
The non-profit organization centers its mission around Florida’s House Bill 775 (also known as the Good Dad Act), a law passed on July 1, 2024, that has aided numerous families by enabling unmarried fathers to be involved in their children’s lives.
This new law introduces pivotal changes, ensuring significant rights for unmarried fathers. Key provisions include recognizing fathers who acknowledge paternity as natural guardians, alongside mothers. It establishes equal custody rights and responsibilities for these fathers, promoting shared parental involvement.
Additionally, the act facilitates the development of parenting plans and time-sharing schedules upon request, while determining parental responsibility and child support obligations. Crafted by Dr. Bernard W. Jennings, a mediator for the Florida Supreme Court, this act is also the subject of his book, Ethan’s Good Dad Act, offering further insight into its implications.
Attorney Catania recently joined Legal Counsel, P.A. after years in practice at her own law firm, Catania Legal Group. Her legal practice focuses on civil litigation, family law, and estate planning. Attorney Catania’s passion for her work is fueled by her drive to acquire the best possible outcomes for her clients and keep focused on the goals set forth by her and her clients at the outset of litigation.
